What is clutter? Simply put, it is everything we do not use or love. Put it this way, we could assume that clutter is easy to get rid of, we take the unused/unloved item, put it in the trash or donate it! It is that simple, until we bring our emotions into it. How much did I pay for it? What need did it serve in me when I bought it? My friend gave me this, my mother gave me that, this has been in our family for decades, even though you hate it!
There are all sorts of reasons to keep things and most don’t make enough sense to warrant taking up our space. Some of us are even paying monthly storage to keep this stuff.
Everything has an energy field, even our clutter. Stagnant energy is like a pond of water that doesn’t get any movement around it. Eventually the water starts to go murky and attracts all kinds of molds, algaes and is a great breeding ground for insects. Cobwebs are another example of a stagnant energy field. You can feel this stickiness of the web if you walk through it. Clutter has this same kind of stagnant energy field, and it drains us every time we see it. Some of us are sensitive enough to feel it in a space even when it is hidden and organized neatly in nice little containers.
We all know what we do not need if we sit down and give the matter some thought. The interesting thing about removing clutter is that when we get rid of the surface layer, we find another layer that we had not even noticed before. When we get rid of the second layer we see the third and so on. There are many layers to remove to relish the taste of freedom from our clutter.
If you are reading this you most probably have clutter, and it is an issue in your life. In regards to feng shui or even how we feel about our spaces, this clutter is blocking us and preventing us from moving forward in life. It causes illness, debt, guilt, arguments, stress and is a big waste of our precious time.
When we try to make changes in our life before we clear our spaces, our efforts most likely, will not last. Clear your space first and then seek the additional help you may need in other areas. The good news is that once we build momentum of clearing clutter we become adept at removing it and can actually enjoy the process. It is the best way I know to shift the energy of a space along with moving furniture and giving a good clean.
After our valiant efforts to remove clutter, we are now on high alert to what we are buying and accepting off others. We don’t want to have to make decisions about this stuff again, so we get fussy about what we allow back into our space. Of course some of our folks may not like this, but we’re not pleasing others now, we’re pleasing ourselves. Some of us learn to say, “No thank you” finally.
We now prefer a walk, over a trip to the store. We start to like our spaces, they are easy to care for now, they are nice to be in, they feel good and we feel good. We start to care for ourselves more, dress and eat better to reflect this, because, it just feels better! We feel tremendous relief and know that what we seek is now within our reach and very possible.
What a clear space gives us is the freedom to choose the life we want.

Hi Carmel, all this is so true. I have noticed a shift in energy since I had a good clear out and I am now more conscience of what I let into my life …….. I can say No to other peoples clutter and yes to a space that i love to spend time in
That’s wonderful Veronica! Hopefully you will find more layers to remove and free your life up even more. Then you can make space and set your intent for what you do want.
